HEALING HUES
RED: Commands attention and evokes survival instincts. Although it can create warmth and excitement, it also stimulates the senses, raises circulation and blood pressure, gets the heart pumping faster and increases libido and determination. It is generally avoided in hospitals due to its associations with blood and particularly in cardiac areas where it can raise heart rates
ORANGE: Lifts the spirits and frees the emotions as well as providing us with energy. It works powerfully on our emotions and gives self-confidence. It has a milder effect that red on the circulatory and reproductive systems and is a good colour to use for relieving muscular pains, asthma and depression
GREEN: A balancing colour, green creates harmony, soothes and relaxes the heart and regulates blood pressure and the nervous system. A great calming colour, it encourages growth, eases stress and strengthens resolve
BLUE: Creates a feeling of peace and serenity and promotes trust. It encourages creativity and helps relieve insomnia, lower blood pressure, calm the nerves and ease the mind. It also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects and is said to feed the respiratory system, with additional links to the throat and thyroid gland
INDIGO: Connected with spirituality, indigo encourages perception, expands consciousness and has a calming, sedative effect on the body. It is also believed to be an antidote to insomnia and is thought to relieve night sweats, arthritis, eczema and ulcers, purifying the body and helping to release fears
VIOLET: Linking to the spiritual realm, violet inspires us and purifies the blood, offering relief for nervous headaches, eye and ear problems, skin disorders and migraines, It is a good calming colour and can aid focus and recovery
