STRESS TURNS HAIR GREY

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Tuesday, August 30, 2011 0 comments

London: Stress can turn your hair grey, say scientists. They have found how stress hormone adrenaline causes damage that could lead to a variety of conditions - such as grey hair or the more serious cancer, the Daily Mail reported.

The research is still at an early stage but it could one day lead to drugs that help counter some of the medical problems caused by one always being under pressure, it said.

The new hope comes from US researchers who worked out how adrenaline wreaks havoc on the body.

During brief but intense periods of stress, adrenaline is beneficial as it prepares the body to fight or flee.

But when the stress goes on and on, it can start to take its toll on the DNA at the very core of our being, researchers said.

To work out why, the researchers infused mice with adrenaline over several weeks to mimic the effects of being under long-term stress.

Levels of a key anti-cancer protein called p53 fell. This protein, sometimes nicknamed 'the guardian of the genome', usually springs into action when DNA is damaged, allowing potentially cancerous cells to carry out repairs.

DNA damage is also thought to impact on the cells that go on to produce the pigment in hair.

'This could give us a plausible explanation of how chronic stress may lead to a variety of human conditions and disorders, which range from merely cosmetic, like greying hair, to life-threatening disorders like malignancies,' the Mail quoted lead researcher professor Robert Lefkowitz of Duke University, North Carolina, as saying.

PALEO DIET

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Saturday, August 27, 2011 0 comments

Commonly known as the paleo or the cavemen diet, the Paleolithic diet is modeled around what our cavemen ancestors ate - wild plants and animals.

Proponents argue that substituting modern diets with traditional paleo versions will lead to better health, particularly with respect to diabetes (Type II), cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. Critics, however, suggest that this is nothing but food faddism without any underlying nutritional logic. Logic or not, some of these food items are quite high in nutrient value. Check out some of the most popular paleo food groups that might help you survive today's unhealthy world.

Grass-fed lean red meat: Followers of the cavemen diet recommend the consumption of lean red meats that are either grass-fed beef or wild game meats. Free of food additives, these meat cuts contain higher levels of Omega-3-fatty acids as compared to grain-fed domestic meats. Moreover, lean cut red meats are also a good source of protein and energy and help to avoid cardiovascular disease and other diseases associated with high cholesterol levels.

Fruits rich in vitamins, potassium and fiber: Another important feature of the hunter's diet is fruits and berries that have high levels of vitamins, fiber and potassium. These foods prevent the sudden elevation of blood sugar levels due to their high glycemic index. Apart from this, they are also high in anti-oxidants which are essential for preventing the occurrence of a number of harmful ailments. Anti-oxidants protect the body from many bacterial and viral infections by strengthening the overall immune system of the body.

Go nuts: Nuts such as walnuts, another paleo food group, have high micro-nutrient densities that are crucial for proper brain function and development. Scientific evidence and research have indicated that eating around 1.5 oz of nuts per day may lower the LDL level and reduce the risk of heart disease. They are also rich in fiber, anti-oxidants and phytonutrients while being high in plant sterols and fat.

Fish and seafood: How many times in the past we have heard about increasing our dietary intake of omega-3-fatty in the form of fish and sea food? Ideally, it is advisable to include at least 0.5-1.8 gms of fish and seafood in daily diets. This way, you can prevent the occurrence of any fatal heart ailments like blood clots, heart attacks and stroke. However, as per paleo diet standards, these foods should be wild caught and not farmed.

Root vegetables: This includes the likes of carrot, potato and radish that supply essential carbohydrates, fiber and vitamins to the body. These foods are regarded as typical characteristic foods of traditional hunter-gatherers.

Leafy greens: Regarded as nutritional powerhouses, leafy greens deliver a bonanza of phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals required for improving the overall health and fitness. As perUSDA recommendations, it is essential to eat a minimum of three cups of dark green vegetables per week.

Eggs: A well-known provider of essential proteins, eggs are important for the development of brain functions. Apart from this, they also provide vital vitamins and cholesterol levels required to prevent the occurrence of many harmful diseases and ailments.

FENNEL & HEALTH RELATION

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Thursday, August 25, 2011 0 comments

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is an edible, perrenial herb which resembles dill. It was discovered in the Mediterranean region and south-east Asia (from east of Morroco and Portugal all the way to Pakistan). The biggest growers of fennel today are: the United States, France, India and Rusia. Fennel was brought to North America by the Spanish missionaires to be grown in their own medicinal gardens. In California it is known under the name of "star anise". The fact that this herb was used in the ancient times is shown by the traditions presented in mythology. In Greek myths this plant was associated with Dionysus (the god of feasts and wine). It is also said that intelligence came from the gods and reached the humans through a fennel stem. Fennel was considered to have magical characteristics. In the Middle Ages during the summer solstice this herb was placed by the door in order to fend off the evil spirits. What is more, the plant seeds were used to block the keyhole to keep the ghosts from entering the homes.

Fennel seeds are 4-8 cm long, thin and slightly curved with colors that vary from brown to light green. The bittersweet smell and the slightly minty taste make this herb similar to ansine. Many languages (like Hindoo, Indonesian, Hungarian) contain only one word for both fennel and ansine. Fennel fruits - seeds are an old type of seasoning found in the Mediterranean region. These are used to make pickles, scented bread, scented vinegar, meat, fish, sea fruits. The poor would use fennel to appease the hunger in the Lent period but also for spicing up meals.

Proprieties and benefits of Fennel

It is believed from folklore that this herb has mysterious vitalistic characters. It was believed that snakes would digest fennel to shed their skin and to sharpen their vision. Likewise, it was believed that this herb has a rejuvenating effect on man and helps the eye sight. Moreover, fennel stimulates lactation and loss of weight. The consumption in excessive quantities of fennel is not indicated because it can lead to muscular convulsions and even hallucinations.

Fennel contains many minerals and vitamins: vitamin C, fibers, manganese, potasium, magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin B3 etc. The vitamin C from the bulb of the plant is antibacterian and very useful to the immune system. Furthermore the fennel bulb is an important source of fibers which help reduce the cholesterol level. Also, the fibers from this herb can prevent intestinal cancer owing to the fact that they can eliminate toxins and cancerous substances from intestines. The herb is rich in potasium - an essential mineral which helps decrease the high blood pressure that can cause a heart attack.

Fennel seeds, leaves and roots are edible, but the fat extracted from the fennel seeds was proved to be toxic even in small quantities - leading to skin rashes, breathing problems and nausea.

Mixtures and treatments
Owing to the invigorating and purifying effects that fennel has over the human body, it can be used in treating bruises, cellulitis, obesity, retaining water, eliminating the toxins from the body, halitosis, inflamations of the mouth. Fennel helps eliminate the common cold and reduce the bouts of cough due to its expectorant nature (contains big quantity of alpha-pinen). The steam resulting from the boiling of the fennel leaves in water alleviates asthma and bronchitis

The mixtures and infusions from dry fennel seeds eliminate stomachaches and stimulate digestion. In childrens? case fennel is a good remedy against intestinal worms by administering light infusions of fennel leaves and seeds. The fennel mixture is used to sharpen the eyesight and alleviate eye irritations. Fennel seeds and roots unclog the liver, spleen, billiary bladder and eliminate cramps. In order to prepare an infusion of fennel seed it is necessary to crush a spoonfull of fennel seeds in a cup of water or milk. The container in which the mixture is being prepared must not be made out of metal. After boiling the mixture, 10 minutes are necessary for it to cool. Two-three cups of this mixtures should be consumed daily.

The tea from fennel leaves and seeds is beneficial for removing intestinal worms and bacteria. The syrup made from fennel juice alleviates the violent bouts of cough. The volatile oil is antiseptic, sedative, carminative, expectorant and it is used in the making of soap and perfumes. The herb also has a very valued effect: if it is pulverized in coops and stables it keeps the flees away.

Warnings
It is recommended that pregnant women stay away from mixtures containing fennel. In large quantities fennel is an uterine stimulant. It does not cause any side effects if it is used in meals. In using the volatile oil any direct contact with the skin is to be avoided due to the fact that it can cause dermatitis for the individulas with sensitive skin.

CORN

With bhuttawalas putting up makeshift stalls at almost every corner in the neighbourhood during the rains, most people love to have this healthy snack. Corn is high in nutrients, which are extremely beneficial for you. Rich in Vitamin B1, which is used in the metabolism of carbohydrates, Vitamin B5, which helps with physiological functions, folate, that helps generating new cells and Vitamin C, which helps fight diseases, corn should be a must in your diet.

Corn is also high in fibre, which helps you fight digestive problems like constipation.
Fibre also helps lower cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of colon cancer and is also useful in helping to lower blood sugar levels in diabetics. Folic acid present in corn is known to prevent neural-tube birth defects. Experts also recommend corn for people who suffer from Anaemia. Make a delicious and easy side dish - corn sauteed with green chillies and onions not only tastes good but is healthy, too!

CAULIFLOWER

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Monday, August 22, 2011 0 comments

Among the cruciferous vegetables, cauliflower is something you might want to add to your regular diet because of its multiple health benefits. Cauliflower consumption has been studied for its cancer-preventing potential and antioxidant properties. Cauliflower contains many nutrients, making it an excellent addition to any diet.

1. Antioxidation

Cauliflower is a very good source of vitamin C and manganese, which are both powerful antioxidants. In fact, 1 cup of boiled cauliflower can already give you 55 mg of vitamin C. Aside from these antioxidants, cauliflower also contains carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, and phytonutrients that include kaempferol, ferulic acid, cinnamic acid and caffeic acid. With these antioxidants, you can be certain that eating cauliflower regularly will help protect you from free radical damage and reduce your risk for diseases caused by oxidative stress, such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

2. Anti-Inflammation

Cauliflower also contains high amounts of vitamin K and omega-3 fatty acids, which help decrease inflammation. A cup of boiled cauliflower contains about 11 micrograms of vitamin K and 0.21 g omega-3 fatty acids. Other anti-inflammatory substances in cauliflower include glucosinolates (such as glucoraphin) and isothiocyanates (such as isothiocyanate sulforaphane). Potentially, regular cauliflower consumption can help decrease the risk of inflammation-mediated diseases such as arthritis, obesity, diabetes mellitus, inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis.

3. Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular

By virtue of having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, cauliflower consumption is protective against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. For instance, in atherosclerosis, there is chronic inflammation of the blood vessel, and the deposition of lipids and white blood cells eventually leads to a decrease in their diameter. This decrease in diameter leads to decreased blood flow to essential organs like the brain (which could lead to stroke), heart (which could lead to heart attack) and kidneys (which could lead to kidney failure). By decreasing chronic inflammation, cauliflower is able to maintain the patency of the blood vessels and keeps excellent blood flow to essential organs of the body.

4. Digestive

A cup of boiled cauliflower delivers about 3.35 g of dietary fiber, which helps clean your digestive system and gets rid of unnecessary substances. Additionally, a substance called glucoraphin present in cauliflower appears to have a protective effect on your stomach lining. With glucoraphin, your stomach is not prone to the bacterium helicobacter pylori, thereby reducing your risk for stomach ulcer and cancer.

5. Nutritional

Cauliflower also contains vitamins B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine) and B9 (folic acid). It serves as a good source of proteins, phosphorus and potassium.
You can add boiled or steamed cauliflower to your diet, but if you do not cook it properly, it can become mushy and lose its flavor. An alternative is to sauté this vegetable for 5 minutes. Make sure that you do not eat more than 4 to 5 servings of this vegetable each week though. This is because cauliflower contains purines, which are broken down by the body to produce uric acid. If you have too much uric acid, you could eventually develop gout.

BEGIN YOUR DAY WITH OATS

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Friday, August 19, 2011 1 comments

Everybody needs to be health conscious today, because most of us face health risks due to various reasons like bad food habits, lack of exercise, stress, obesity, drinking alcohol , smoking, etc.

Being healthy begins by eating healthy. Most of us begin our day by having breakfast that is high in fat and calories, for eg. butter jam toast, cheese sandwiches, omelettes, sheera, vadas, dosas, etc. which is bad for the heart. You need to begin your day with a non-oily nutritious breakfast, for example, having oats. It's quick and easy to prepare, so you can't complain about not having the time to prepare breakfast. Here are some of the benefits of oats:

Oats contain soluble fibre called beta glucan, which is known to help in reducing cholesterol by the blocking of re-absorption of cholesterol when it passes through the digestive system. Regularly having oats lowers the cholesterol levels in the body.

- Oats contains low levels of sodium. This reduces the risk of contracting high blood pressure and hypertension.

- The soluble fibre present in oats tends to slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, thereby reducing the spikes in the blood sugar levels, which in turn do not lead to unwanted urges to eat.

- Eating oats leaves one much fuller, therefore you tend to eat less. This is especially good for those trying to lose weight.

- Oats contains very less amount of fat and lesser calories. This makes it good for overall health.

- Being a good source of natural dietary fibre, oats are beneficial in curbing the problem of constipation.

- Oats are also known to contain compounds called phytochemicals that can reduce one's risk of cancer.

KIWI

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Wednesday, August 17, 2011 0 comments

Kiwi fruits are rich in many Vitamins, flavonoids and minerals. In particular, they contain a high amount of Vitamin C (more than oranges), as much potassium as bananas and a good amount of beta-carotene.
Studies in Italy, though, performed on 6-7 year old children, have also demonstrated additional health benefits to the respiratory tract. In particular, children that were fed 5-7 portions a week of citrus and kiwifruits had 44% less probability wheezing compared to children eating less than once a week.
Shortness of breath was reduced by 32%,night time cough by 27%, severe wheeze by 41%, chronic cough by 25%, and runny nose by 28%. This results is not only traceable to the content in Vitamin C or Potassium, but in substances which are still largely unknown contained in kiwi fruit.
These substances are most likely flavonoids that help protect our cells from oxidative damage, and are therefore considered very helpful in protecting our DNA from mutations and damage.

Protection from Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)

A series of studies published by the Archives of Ophthalmology have proven that consuming 3 or more servings of fruit per day (including kiwi fruits) can reduce by 36% the risk of developing an eye-related disease called ARMD (the primary cause of vision impairment in adults), if compared to people who only consume 1.5 servings of fruit per day.
The study was conducted on 110.000 women and men and lasted several decades. Surprisingly, the study found that while vegetables were not correlated with an improved resistance to the disease, fruits containing high amount of Vitamin C,A and E (the most common antioxidant vitamins) helped significantly in protecting against ARMD.

Anti Oxidant properties of Kiwi Fruit

It is important to note that kiwi fruits contain a remarkable amount of Vitamin C, E and A. Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant that has been proven to protect our body from free radicals, dramatically improving the health of individuals who consumed it regularly against all kinds of disease, from cardiovascular problems to cancer and obesity.
Vitamin E has been proven to have similar effects, but is fat-soluble and thus is complimentary to Vitamin C in its functions. Kiwi fruits contain both these vitamins in high amount, which help protect our body against free radicals from all fronts.

Kiwi fruits have a high fiber content

The high content in dietary fiber helps improving diseases such as diabetes, by controlling sugar levels, and colon cancer, since fiber binds to toxic compounds in the colon and helps us expel them.
Fiber has also been proven to reduce cholesterol levels, improving the conditions of patients with cardiovascular diseases and lowering the probability of heart attacks.

Summary of Kiwifruit Health Benefits

Eating kiwi fruit is clearly a healthy choice, and it is particularly useful in these cases:
  • Prevents Asthma
  • Prevents wheezing and coughing, especially in children
  • Protects our DNA from mutations
  • Provides a healthy amount of antioxidants and vitamins
  • Helps prevent colon cancer thanks to a high fiber content

What’s cheaper than a spa, tastes good, doesn’t smell too bad and can rejuvenate your skin in less than 10 minutes? Fruits are natural and effective skin restoratives. The best thing you could ever do to keep looking good, is to understand the healing properties of fruits.
Most fruits are low in calories, sweet, and a good source of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. Used as a face pack or mask, they hydrate your skin, smooth away wrinkles, lighten it, and even heal various skin conditions.
  • Banana mask:

Bananas have lots of magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, iodine, and vitamins A, B, E, and F. Their anti-aging powers make them a great skin restorative for anyone over 35. If you make this banana mask at home, you could store it in the refrigerator for about 5 days and use it at least twice in a week.
Mash a banana and add to it milk or cream, honey, and oat flour. Apply it to your face, arms, and neck, and rinse it off after ten minutes (longer, if you can stand the smell). If you have oily skin, add a few drops of lemon juice to the banana and milk mixture.
  • Mixed fruit pack I:

The enzyme papain in papayas is a natural exfoliator and is especially good for those with damaged skin. Papaya juice can also lighten freckles and brown spots, and soften the skin.
Don’t throw away the peel; it has antibacterial and wound healing abilities. Cucumbers act as a toner and strawberries condition and tone the skin.
Blend strawberries, cucumber or papaya with a little yogurt and clay. Apply it to your face and leave it on for a while. This face mask moisturizes the skin, lightens it, and removes dead skin.
  • Mixed fruit pack II:

WHAT MAKES FOR MORE HEALTHY EGGS?

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Monday, August 8, 2011 0 comments

Washington: Eggs, one of the most popular edible items in the world, have always been mired in controversy.

Research by Niva Shapira of Tel Aviv University indicates that when hens are fed with a diet low in omega-6 fatty acids, their eggs are likely to cause less oxidative damage to health.

Eggs high in omega-6 fatty acids heighten cholesterol's tendency to oxidize, which forms dangerous plaque in our arteries, the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry reports.

Shapira's research shows that eggs laid by hens with healthier feed can lessen oxidation of LDL or bad cholesterol. But healthier eggs are likely to cost more, she says, according to a Tel Aviv University statement.

Feed containing products high in omega-6 fatty acids, such as maize, soy, and their oils, are much cheaper for egg producers to purchase.

Shapira and fellow researchers designed feeds high in anti-oxidants and lower in omega-6 fatty acids, based on wheat, barley, and milo, given to young hens.

Their results were measured against daily intake of two grocery store eggs, and a weekly intake of only two to four special eggs.

Daily consumption of two industry-standard eggs, high in omega-6, caused a 40 percent increase in LDL oxidizability in participants.

After eating two per day of the special eggs, with both high anti-oxidant and low omega-6 levels, however, LDL oxidation levels were similar to the control group eating only two to four eggs a week.

TOP 10 WAYS TO FIGHT LETHARGY

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Saturday, August 6, 2011 0 comments

Every single Monday has most of us wishing for more hours in bed. While some of us are merely sad to see the weekend go, there are some others who genuinely have trouble with sleep and energy levels - leaving them lethargic for most of their work days.

Many of them might be suffering fromHypersomnia and genuinely feel the need to sleep every few hours due to poor sleeping habits, which ultimately affect work hours and overall performance levels. Here are top 10 ways to fightoffice lethargy and how you can learn to keep sleepiness at bay.

Be friendly with your coffee machine, but don't get too close. Caffeine stimulates the heart and respiratory systems. But don't be too friendly. Limit your coffee consumption to just two cups a day. Make sure that for every coffee you drink when you are feeling sleepy, you drink two full glasses of water, to help your system replenish what the caffeine takes out.

Eat breakfast to keep hunger pangs at bay. Office life can wreck your diet decisions if you are not careful. One of the most common reasons behind our urge to overeat at work is the lack of an adequate breakfast. Skipping breakfast leads to an erratic lifestyle pattern. It's the most important meal of the day, and we end up neglecting it. A good healthy breakfast ensures that you have enough energy supplies, keeping sleepiness at bay.

Try office yoga! Reversed Shoulder Rotation and Thoracic Wave - Inhale as you move your shoulders in an upward and backward direction. Exhale as you move them in a downward and frontward direction. Take deep breaths and keep your neck and spine comfortably straight. Perform 8-10 rotations on each side. Konasana - Stand straight with legs wide apart. Now bend forward from your waist. Try and touch the ground with the tips of your fingers, if possible place both your hands on the ground while standing. Your upper body should be in a straight line. Look ahead by about 3 inches. Perform konasana for 10-30 seconds and breathe normally throughout the asana.

Give it a break: Understand that you are not a superhero. And to add to it, it may do your eyes a whole lot of good too. Stroll around your office corridor once in a while and meet your friends in order to beat office lethargy. Don't go all out and start partying bang in the middle of a work day, but walk up to any colleagues you need to chat with, get your own bottle of water, and give yourself a break from the desk at regular intervals. Your atrophying leg muscles will thank you for it.

Leave the technology out of your bedroom at night. While most are addicted to televisions, music docks and laptops in their bedrooms, keeping so many distractions strewn around your night's sleep space can be detrimental. Why? Because your mind won't be at ease. Constant whirring, flicking, ticking sounds will keep your mind alert and that's not a good recipe for a good snooze.

De-stress: Stress is one of the main reasons that make the limited time that we have for sleeping less productive. Before sleeping try and do something soothing such as reading, talking to your spouse or close friend, taking a long bath or anything that takes your mind away from what's bothering you. It is not that hard after all. A good night's sleep is a sure shot way to ensure you are full of vigour and energy all day long, even when you at work.

Avoid white foods at night: By white foods we mean foods which are white in colour such as white pasta, white sugar, white rice. They are all high in glycemic index, thus leading to a rise in blood sugar levels, lethargy and laziness. Try and eat sweet potatoes and brown rice at night in order to load up on complex carbs and dietary fibre that'll ensure that you wake up feeling energetic and light.

Try meditation: This really works. People who meditate, do it in the morning, but meditating for half an hour before bed is also a good idea. This will give you a sound sleeping time and will help you in waking up all fresh and happy in the morning. Studies have suggested that people who sleep a deep 6 to 8 hours of sleep are less likely to feel sleepy in the afternoon.

Visit a sleep specialist: If nothing seems to work, then we advise you to see a sleep specialist as you might just be suffering from sleep apnea or narcolepsy. According to experts, untreated sleep and undiagnosed sleep disorders are main reasons why most workers are always sleepy in the office. A sleep specialist will diagnose and prescribe medication for any condition that you might be suffering from.

DREAMING HELPS IN REMEMBERING STUDY SAYS

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Thursday, August 4, 2011 0 comments

Dreaming helps in remembering, says a new study.

Researchers have found that dreaming helps people to store memories -- in fact, the rapid eye movement (REM), stage of sleep -- when one dreams -- is part of the memory process, the Daily Express reported.

In the study, led by Dr Sara Mednick, a leading sleep researcher at the University of California, a group of people were given a simple memory test. They were tested again after having either a nap with REM sleep, a nap without REM sleep or a period of quiet rest.

The quiet rest and non-REM sleep groups showed no improvement in the test but the REM sleep group improved by almost 40 per cent.

Dr Mednick said: "REM sleep is vital for pulling together all the information we process daily and turning it into memories to use later. This has helped us to understand more about the benefits of sleep."

Meanwhile Harvard psychology professor Daniel Schacter claims that a good memory may help people to see their own future. "Memories support the formation in our minds of future events," he said.

WHAT IS PANIC ATTACK

Posted by Elizebath Bijoy Tuesday, August 2, 2011 1 comments

A quick explanation of what is anxiety disorder would be to simply say it is extreme and disabling nervousness. It's an illness in which an individual has a phobia of either a situation, a place, or a thing. The terror can either be of something real or imagined, logical or foolish.

Everybody gets nervous at a previous time or another in life, but somebody with anxietydisorder is sometimes unable to function usually thanks to the crippling fear. The subject will often do almost anything to avoid the uncomfortable symptoms linked with it.Symptoms may include sweating, slurred speech, inability to speak, quick heart beat, racing thoughts, urge to run, fainting, more
nervousness, and imagined ridicule from others.

There are a few kinds of these sicknesses. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a general fear of any and all circumstances. Someone with this sickness could be afraid to drive, frightened of falling ill, or twitchy about going grocery buying. With GAD the doctor normally can not designate what the patient’s specific fear is, so he labels him with this standard sickness.
One of the more specific types nervousness sickness is social anxiety disorder. In cases of Miserable the individual is afraid of social settings or folks. The dread isn't of the people themselves, but more of being disparaged, judged, or humiliated by those folks. The subject have had a dire shaming situation occur earlier in life. Maybe she or he was wrongfully judged by someone. If the bias to develop this illness was there, then one bad experience could have simply made it develop. No express incident necessarily causes a case of SAD though.

Suffers of this categorical version are known to avoid social scenarios at any price. In grim cases, a man or woman who is ill may never leave his or her home.
Obsessive compulsive disorder is a twin complaint that involves recurring obsessive twitchy thoughts and compulsive actions that are performed to ease the terror from such thoughts. For instance, an individual with obsessive compulsive disorder can have a disturbing fear of germs and will wash his or her hands a few hundred times per day to avoid them.

Other diseases that describe what is anxiety disorder are post dire stress disorder, panic attacks, and express fears. All these are classified in the same category and have the general main sign of an extreme sense of fear.
Treatment for this mental incapacity will usually need prescription medicines and some form of care. An anti-depressant might be prescribed for somebody with post dire stress disorder because depression may occur. Typically anti foreboding drugs are given.

In addition to receiving medicine, a patient should enroll in therapy sessions to discover how to control the negative thoughts that are causing the fears. With enough time and care, the effect of any disorder can be reduced noticeably. Hopefully they can be managed enough to where the patient can function routinely in the majority of his or her life tasks.

A short clarification of what is anxiety disorder would be to simply say it's acute and incapacitating nervousness. It's an sickness in which an individual has a fear of either a situation, a place, or a thing. The fear can either be of something real or imagined, logical or daft.

Everybody gets scared at one previous point or another in life, but an individual withanxiety disorder is sometimes unable to function routinely because of the crippling fear. The victim will generally do virtually anything to bypass the uncomfortable symptomsassociated with it. Symptoms may include sweating, slurred speech, incapability to speak, rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, urge to run, fainting, more nervousness, and imagined disesteem from others.
There are many kinds of these illnesses. Generalized anxiety disorder is a general fear of any and all circumstances. An individual with this sickness could be frightened to drive, frightened of becoming ill, or frightened about going grocery shopping. With GAD the doctor normally can not designate what the patient’s precise fear is, so he labels him or her with this standard sickness.

One of the more specific kinds nervousness illness is social nervousness disorder. In cases of Downcast the individual is afraid of social settings or folk. The terror isn't of the people themselves, but more of being denigrated, judged, or embarrassed by those people. The sufferer may have had a dire humbling situation occur earlier in life. Perhaps she or he was wrongfully judged by somebody. If the disposition to develop this ailment was there, then one bad experience might have easily made it develop. No specific incident always causes a case of Downcast though.

Suffers of this explicit version are known to avoid social eventualities at any price. In grim cases, a woman or man who is sick may never leave their home.
Obsessive compulsive disorder is a dual affliction that involves repeating obsessive twitchy thoughts and compulsive actions that are performed to ease the fear from such thoughts. As an example, an individual with obsessive compulsive disorder can have a upsetting fear of germs and will wash their hands a few hundred times a day to avoid them.

Other illnesses that describe what is anxiety disorder are post traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, and particular phobias. All of these are classified in the same category and have the main indication of an acute sense of fear.
Treatment for this psychological disability will customarily need prescription medicines and some kind of care. An anti-depressant could be prescribed for an individual with post traumatic stress disorder because depression may occur. Normally anti anxiousness drugs are given.

As well as receiving medication, a patient should join up to therapy sessions to learn how to manage the destructive thoughts that are causing the fears. With enough time and care, the results of any disorder can be reduced noticeably. Hopefully they can be managed enough to where the patient can function typically in most of their life tasks.

ANTIOXIDANTS SHOW PROMISE IN TREATING INFERTILITY

Washington: Antioxidants have shown promise in treating infertility both in men and women, including erectile dysfunction (ED), say researchers.

Fertility problems are often an early indicator of other degenerative disease issues such as atherosclerosis, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, and the same approaches that may help treat infertility could also be of value to head off those problems, they said, reports the journal Pharmacological Research.

The findings were made by Tory Hagen at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University (US), and Francesco Visioli, who led the study at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Spain.

'If oxidative stress is an underlying factor causing infertility, which we think the evidence points to, we should be able to do something about it,' said Hagen, professor of healthdiv research at the Madrid institute

Some commonly used antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, could help, Hagen said. But others, such as lipoic acid, are a little more cutting-edge and set up a biological chain reaction that has a more sustained impact on health.

Lab and in-vitro studies have been very promising, especially with some newer antioxidants such as lipoic acid that have received much less attention.

Researchers point to inadequate production of nitric oxide, an agent that relaxes and dilates blood vessels. This is often caused, in turn, by free radicals that destroy nitric oxide and reduce its function.

Antioxidants can help control free radicals. Some existing medical treatments for erectile dysfunction work, in part, by increasing production of nitric oxide.

Aging, which is often associated with erectile dysfunction problems, is also a time when nitric oxide synthesis begins to falter. And infertility problems in general are increasing, scientists say, as more people delay having children until older ages.

'Infertility is multifactorial and we still don't know the precise nature of this phenomenon,' Visioli said.

As many as 50 percent of conceptions fail and about 20 percent of clinical pregnancies end in miscarriage, the researchers noted in their report.
