Food and its effect on the Mood

Having a healthy diet that is rich in nutrients and vitamins that are essential to your body such as Omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, tryptophan, folate and other B vitamins would help; in addition to low glycemic index foods that help in controlling blood sugar does the trick.

Examples on foods that would improve your mood are, fish (especially salmon), whole grain fibers, legumes and nuts, chocolate (especially dark chocolate) and fruits and vegetables.
Moreover, in order to reduce stress and to enable you to sleep better, one should have less caffeine, sugar and alcohol.

Never skip meals and try to increase exercise since it makes you feel better both on a physical and mental level.
Some foods are referred to as comfort foods, such as having hot milk before heading to bed, would trigger some comforting memories from childhood and may improve your mood.

Thus just taking care of yourself and your diet, would help you boost your mood!
